COUNTERFEITERS SENTENCED.
FIVE YEARS’ PENAL SERVITUDE
[United tress association-copyright.} (Received Feb. 7, 9.30 p.m.) SYDNEY Feb. 7. The Youells, father a net son , who were arrested in December last, were to-day each sentenced to five years’ penal servitude on charges of having made 32 counterfeit sovereigns found in their possession. The vounger prisoner, who, prior to the jure giving their verdict, declared himself innocent subsequently made a statement in the box confessing that lie had gilded the coins, and declaring that his father knew nothing of the matter. The police evidence showed that-. theyounger Youell had been associated with men arrested aft-er\vard-s and sentenced for passing counterfeit coin at Flemington on last Derby Day.
