TURF TOPIGS. j (By “Argus'”) There was a good muster of horses to participate in the Poverty Bay Turf Club’s meeting to-morrow and Friday, at Makara’ka yesterday, and some useful work was done on the plough’ and the oouise proper. i. Dazzling, the dual winner at the meeting last week, pleased track watcher? by a strong gallop, while Swartlimoor was going well, indicating that s']' 1 will see the posit to-morrow. I he race-books for the meeting have been issued from this office. They are complete in every detail as to breeding, etc ,of the different houses engaged, and are published in a neat and compact form. The old-time warrior Mahutonga has been given a trial over hurdles during the last few days, and he performed really well. Should he stand a thorough preparation, there should be little to. stand in the way of the Quilt gelding over the small sticks. I

G. Jones has in hand p present a full brother to Te Aral; a fine upstanding sort who should pay his way later on. F. D. Porter will return to Wellington on. Sunday evening with his team, consisting of Te Arai, Birkline, and Rauparaha. He will take with him Cauldron, the winner of the l Ladies’ Bracelet at To Kanaka, who will probably be given a chance to earn distinction over hurdles.

Adrfolt, who must he considered extremely unlucky in not annexing the Second Welter at the G.R.C. meeting last week, has changed hands. He has been sold 1 by Mr C. J. Parker to Mr F. Jones, and in all probability will in future he trained bv 0. Sufi. The chestnut colt hv-Monoform—•Daf-fodil, bought by Mr. F. Loomh in Auckland recently claims a number of engagements at two years old. He will probably he put into work by his owner soon after the Turf Club’s meeting this week.

Mr. Loomb’s other purchase, by Field Battery —Vexation, is running with the Monoform colt at West me re, and from present appearances should prove useful, She will not be raced .until three years old.
