(By “Rosalind.”) Mr. and Mrs. R. Sherratt and the Misses Sherratt (2) leave on a visit to England next month. They will probably be; absent for about twelve months. Mrs. R. Crawford, who has been visiting Auckland, has returned. Miss Wallis, of the Palmerston Road private hospital, is visiting Auckland. All's. Gore has returned to .Hawke’s Bay. Miss Godfrey, matron of the Gisborne Hospital, is visiting the south. Airs. Holden is back from a visit.to Hawke’s Bay. The engagement is announced of Miss Mndolene Dunlop, eldest daughter of Air. and Airs. D. Dunlop, to Air. Douglas Day (Tauranga). Airs. P. Barker and the Misses Barker leave for England and the Continent in a few weeks. Airs. Lusk, who has been hero for some weeks, returned to Napier on AVednesday. An engagement of interest to local people is that Air J. Beatson or Hastings, Hawke’s Bay, to Miss Gaisford, of Dannevideo, which lias recently been announced. Mis? Rosemary Rees is working up a comedy by Jerome K. Jercme, to be played on tlie_ evening of Ala veil 3rd. Aliss Rees will bo very strongly supported by the following local amateurs: Air. and Airs. A. F. Kennedy, Aliases P. Lusk, Donner, and D. Bennett, and Alessrs Bowring, Brown-lee, Hamilton, Irving, and Alax Jackson. Air. and Airs R. Coop (Tarawa) were in town for the races, and the guests of Airs. H. White. Whataupcko. Aliss Waehsmann (Alorere) has been ' in town for a few days and the guest of Airs. Waclismann, AYhataupoko.
