Mr. E. G. Loten. agricultural' instructor under the Board of Education,, is a passenger for Gisborne by the s.s.Monowai, which left Napier last night. Mr F. AA'. Donald, of the staff of the local branch of the Bank of Australasia, has accepted an engagement with theTologa Bay Trading Company,' and will be leaving this district shortlv. Mr. AV. D. S. MacDonald.* ALP. for Bay of Plenty, Ah; R. B. Ross, ALP. for Pahiatua, and An-. G. Quirk, a settler from Pahiatua. are to- leave for' Afotu by this morning’s train. From Afotu the party proceed to the Bay of Plenty and from there ATr. MacDonald" goes to Rotorua. It is understood that Air. A. J. Simson, of the local branch of the Bank of New South AA’ales. is to be transferred to Now Plymouth. Inspector Dwyer returned from the Coast yesterday, where he has been inspecting stations. He left for Te Raraka last evening, and will return to Gisborne to-day. He will leave for Napier to-morrow. Air 'A*. Piper, starter to the Poverty Bay Racing Club, is to leave for the south by to-morrow s steamer. A Press Association telegram states that the Auckland Board of Education has appointed Air. ATaurice Priestly, at present of the Auckland. Training College, as organising inspector to go. among the small country schools, which, are somewhat weakly staffed at present, and to assist the more inexperienced teachers, and help them to understand the real spirit, object, and scope of the syllabus; also to lay down plans of the work. There wore a large number of applicants for the position, which carries a salary of £3->0 a year, and travelling expenses. Air. Harry Stubbs, who has loon second in command at the AA’oodville railway station for the past 10 years, has been transferred to the Auckland province as relieving officer.
