FASHIONS AT THE RACES.
SOME OF THE FROCKS

It was .unfortunate that the weather for the second day of the Ma.karaka race meeting was dull and rather showery. Nevertheless many ladies again turned out, and many and varied were the pretty dresses worn. Airs. J. W. Nolan looked well in a grey linen costume trimmed with black and white check; a “Miss Gibbs” hat in black straw, with a sweeping ostrich feather, was worn with becoming effect. Miss Nolan white linen suit coat, belted at the waist; a smart black hat with white Jace butterfly bow.
Miss H. Noian, white linen costume; pretty picture hat ill’ cream straw, with mauve Paisley crown. Miss Slimmon (England), grey cloth costume, cut with a smart straight effect, the coat being belted at the waist, with a wide patent leather band ; large black soft straw hat, with black feather mount.
Mrs. John Gark. grey satin doth suit, the coat cut with short effect, the skirt made with straight panel back and front; a smart blade hat turned straight off the face caught with jet buckle and black feather. Mrs; G. Reynolds wore cream serge coat and skirt braided in same shade ; her hat was the new mole shade caught slightly up in front and trimmed with white pink wing mount. Mrs. J. Williams were a dainty frock of shantung in bleu fumce, the bodice trimmed wiMl' cream net; a black crinoline Hat with largo ostrich feathers. Airs. John Murpliy was gowned in, a silk frock in toison d’or shade; picture hat lined with same shade, "the crown trimmed with black ostrich feathers caught with large jet buckle with suitalilo effect. Mrs. R. Sherratt. cream serge costume braided in white: tuscan straw hat with large black bow. Mrs. Henry White, navy blue costume ; cream crinoline hat with black feathers.
Afiss White, navy blue tailored suit; vieux-rose straw hat with flat black tulle bow.
Miss Iris Maclean a linen costume in the new biege pink ; black hat lined with pink and trimmed with pink roses and amfle blossom.
Afiss Reynolds, navy blue silk foulard trimmed with blue chiffon taffeta, the skirt finished with deep hem of same; cream hat.
Miss Beryl Downey, pale blue muslin frock: black liat turned off the face and trimmed with big pink tulle bow. Airs. C. Scott, white linen costume ; pretty black hat. Mrs. J. Harding, black costume; black and white hat with white feathers.
Afiss Bright, white embroidered muslin; cream straw hat. Mi’s. Willock, creamy Sicilian costume: black hat with shaded.floral garniture.
Afiss Jensen, white linen coat and skirt- a smart “Afiss Gibbs” hat in cream straw trimmed with black.
Afiss H, Sherratt. pale blue linen frock; with cream hat. Afiss K. Sherratt, dull vieux-rose linen costume; pretty wide brimmed hat in -mole shade with -pink feather inot.nit.
Mrs.' R." U. Burke, pale blue check silk frock; cream straw hat with black bow.
Mrs. Russell (Nelson), pink muslin frock; a “Miss Gibbs" hat in cream straw trimmed with black. Mrs. Donner, ’ cream cloith costume cut with smart effect: black chiffon and velvet hat, the crown composed of shaded sweet peas. Mrs. R. Coop, cream serge costume; a “Miss Gibbs’) hat in black straw, with geld berries. Aliss Donner, blue silk checked frock, trimmed with Paisley silk; mauve straw hat lined with black velvet wreathed with mauve roses. Mrs. F. Parker, soft pale nord shade of chiffon taffeta made Princess style, with cream lace trimming; becoming hat in black with black ‘feathers. Mrs. A. Rees, white' chiffon with black silk stripe richly embroidered; blight blue hat with black osprey. Mrs. Bennett, black chiffon dress; black hat with white butterfly bow. Miss D. Bennett, grey coat and skirt; mauve hat with purple roses. Mrs. Russel], recently arrived from England,, smart tailored dark grey costume ; with black plumed hat. Miss Reynolds, cream linen costume heavily braided; cream hat with black bow
Miss Norali Reynolds, daik blue silk foulard trimmed with dark blue chiffon taffeta, the skirt finished with deep hem of same.
Airs. Ratten smart navy blue costume ; with cream straw hat and bright red roses. Miss M. Wachsmann, ciel blue voile trimmed with silk of same shade; chiffon hat of pale blue with cream roses.
Aliss AVachsmann (Aforere), cream frock, with pale blue pattern; cream hat with brown velvet and pink roses. Aliss F. Scott, white serge Russian costume, much braided ; pink hat. Aliss Horne (Auckland), white embroidered muslin ; pink straw hat. Aliss O’Afeara. white muslin frock; a black “Aliss Gibbs’’ hat
AEiss Symes, saxe-blue costume; a “Aliss Gibbs’’ hat in cream straw.
Airs. Stephenson,, white silk frock; grey chiffon hat with pink ostrich feathers
Aliss Sherratt, dainty white muslin finely trimmed with white lace; picture hat lined with black, trimmed with black velvet rosette and pink roses.
Mrs. Sftock, white muslin much embroidered ; black hat with pink roses.
Aliss Heale, cream Sicilian coat and skirt; tuscan straw hat with green Paisley trimming. Aliss AVillis, fawn coat and skirt; brown hat with brown satin trimming. Airs. G.• Wilson, brown striped coat and skirt; black hat white chiffon taffeta hows with black velvet edging. Airs. Ruby, green linen costume with which she wore a black lace hat with green grasses.
Airs. Gerald Crawford looked well in white embroidered Russian coat and skirt; smart black vclvelt hat with black, wing mount. • Mrs. St radian, green tweed coat and skirt; dark green hat. Airs. J. AA\ Bright, alothea shade of shantung silk made in coat and skirt style ; hat of same shade.
Airs. Barry wore fawn-spotlted foulard ; fawn hat with red roses. Airs. D. Barry, dark green check coat and skirt; black hat turned up in the front with black wing. Mrs. J. Alartin, parfimi colored Princess gown richly braided; smart black hat.
Miss Hayes, green Princess robe trimmed with velvet of same shade; green halt with pink roses. Miss O’Connor, pale nord colored serge costume smartly braided ; becoming black hat.
