BURGLARY AT GREYATOUTH. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.! GR.EVMOUTB. Feb. 13. Early on Sunday morning the premises of the Fresh Food and Ice Company were maliciously entered. A set of harness was stolen,, hacked to pieces, and throw’ll about in the- railway enclosure. A butter factory was entered through a- window, and all Saturday evening’s' fresh cream smeared with acid, bt the marauder was disturbed and escaped. RESISTING THE POLICE. A young man was lined £lO to-day for resisting a policeman on Saturday night, the Magistrate commenting on the aggravation of ,the offence. THE PRISONS BOARD. WELLINGTON. Fob. 13. The Prisons Board constituted under the Crimes Act to consider the cases of prisoners undergoing reformative detention lias been constituted as -follows-:—-President: Chief Justice; official members. Mr. AYaldgrave, Under-Secretary for Justice, and Dr. Hay. Inspector of Prisons non-official members. Auckland, Air F. G. Ewingto.li: Dunedin,’Mr Geo. Fenwick; Wellington,. Air J. R. Blair; Christchurch. Mr W. Reece. Dr Findlay considered it desirable to follow the practice prevailing in other countries not to appoint members of Parliament’.to such hoards. A DESERTING'SEAMAN. ■ Thomas Quinn, a seaman of the Steamer: Qian Grant, has been sentenced to one month’s imprisonment for desertion on January 18th.
