CHILDREN’S WARD AT HOSPITAL.
MINISTER APPROVES OF THE WORK. , TENDERS TO BE CONSIDERED TO-DAY. T’he inadequacy of the accommodation for children at the Gisborne Hospital has been the subject of some comment recently, -and tlie matter was fully discussed at a meeting of the Board held in January. It was then decided to have specifications for a Children’s Ward prepared, and the Chairman and Visiting committee were empowered to accept tenders. A commencement will shortly be made with the work, for the plans have been prepared, and approved by the Inspec-tor-General of Hospitals (Dr. Valentine). The Board lias been notified that the Minister in charge of 1 the Department of Hospitals and Charitable Aid, has approved of the erection of a temporary emergency ward, at an expenditure of £3OO, knowing that the Board had given the. matter every consideration. The ward will contain about twelve beds, and the contract time for erecting it is three weeks. The Visiting committee will consider the tenders for the work to-day.
