INVERCARGILL WOOL SALES. AN ADVANCE IN PRICES.' [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) INVERCARGILL, Feb. 17. A distinct improvement was noticeable at the third wool sale, held to-dav. There was a strong general demand, and excellent auction clearances were effected, prices advancing quite Id per lb for medium crossbred, prices as compared with last month’s sales prices also improving from Id to Id. There was very little superfine wool offering, hut for what there was id to fcl per lb more was secured than at the January sales. The buyers numbered only a hare dozen, as compared with 30 last month, and only two represented the Continental trade. America was entirely absent. In all 3133 hales were offered and 511 were passed in. A good deal- of the wool had been held over from last sale, and the rest was mostly station clips. The latter was affected by biddy-bids. The top price was 11-Jd for 21 bales of hogget wool, and the range of prices was:—Fine crossbred, superior to good 11 Id to 10>d, good to medium Kid to 9d, medium to inferior 8-jd to 7d, strong 9ld to Bid.
