The Orippen 'case is- once- more 'claim-' big public attention. its latest, development is tlie attempt on the part of EtheLLe Neve to obtain a retrial of the case. Action in; this direction has been taken in the Probate Court, in which Le Neve is seeking to gain possession of tlie property which was left her bv her dead lover, and which was willed to her. Tlie- lawyers acting on her behalf contend that CVipnen’s conviction was secured on what was palpably hearsay evidence, and that the Crown has no legal status in the Probate Court.
