The arbitrator’s decision in connection with the Cockle Creek works strike condemns the action of the men, who, it says, have been foolishly advised. It suggests that they should return to work ponding the placing of the case before'the Arbitration Court. TROUBLE IN MELBOURNE IMPLEMENT TRADE. (Received Feb. 18, 12.20 a.m.! . MELBOURNE, Feb. 17. The trouble in the implement trade at the Sunshine harvester works is spreading. Other works are expected to close to-morrow. The organiser states that many unionists are locked out. SOUTH WALES MINERS REJECT PROPOSED AGREEMENT. LONDON, Fob. 17. The executive of the South Wales Miners’ Federation, on the ground that too much latitude' was allowed to the managers regarding remuneration for ahnyrma] places, rejected the tentative agreement arranged by Mr. Askwith’s conference,' and suggest an alternative scheme. The Waterside Workers' Federation Executive and the shipping owners concerned. after a conference to-day, mutually agreed to refer the Patea strikers’ dispute to two arbitrators and an umpire In view of this agreement, the men at Patea and the wharf laborers at Wellington, who refused to unload the steamer Man a from Patea this morning, will resume work. The Executive and' the owners have decided to abide by the decision of the arbitrators. The prospects of a serious strike to-day were very -lopmy with the Waterside Federation and the Seamen's Federation acting in. concert.
