VOLUNTARY CONTINGENT TO BE SENT. TO CONSIST OF SIXTY MEN. GOVERNMENT GRANTS £2O PER MAN. [PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION.} CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 20. As there arc so manv applications from members of the Dominion Defence forces to form a voluntary Coronation contingent, each paying his own expenses, the Government has decided to allow a contingent to be sent under the following conditions :—(!)“ Each member to find his own passage by any route to and from England; (2) supply his own uniform; (3) to report to the High Commissioner at London during the first week in June at latest, earlier if possible: (4) no pay will be granted; (5) the force is to be under military law while acting as a contingent; (6) applications must be made through officers commanding districts, who will report on the same and forward to headquarters. A letter* of recommendation to the High Commissioner will be forwarded. A copy will also be sent to applicants. (7) Twenty pounds (£2O) will be granted as an allowance for uniform and equipment, payment to lie made in London by the High Commissioner. No other charge against the Government to be incurred. This allowance is, however, limited to 60 members only. Fifteen can therefore be recommended from inis district.
