representation of new ZEALAND. COMMITTEE FORMED IN WELLINGTON. fPEE PRESS ASSOCIATIONS WELLINGTON, Feb. 22. A conference of representatives of the various athletic and sports bodies of Wellington was held to-night to consider means of raising funds to secure the representation of New Zealand at the Empire sports festival. Ine chairman stated that at least £4OO would bo required to finance a team of tluee men. although £6O was already in riand as a remit of the band entertainment m the town Hall on Monday night. The representative ol the Boxing Club said that subscription lists had already been circulated. He thought that' if all interested pulled together they could raise the necessary money without much trouble. Another delegate said it was well known Aint Champion, oi Auckland, was good enough to represent Australasia in the swimming division, though no move liad been made to send him. As far as tennis was concerned, "Wilding was already at Home, and Haskins would be able to go if he was selected. A telegram was read from Champion stating that he would by. willing to go, subject to certain conditions. It was decided __ that the meeting should resolve- itself into a committee of ways and means, and that the secretary communicate with other centres in yoking their aid. It was also decided to cable to Australia asking for definite information as to the representation desired.
