PERSONAL NOTES.
Mr. J. B. Richards, formerly third officer of the s.s. Canopus, has been promoted to the position of second officer on the s.s. Regulus, now in port. Mr. J. W. Witty, secretary to the Harbor Board, has made an almost complete recovery from his recent indisposition, and will probably lie able to resume duty on Monday morning. . Mr. Hamilton Irvine, who lias just been elected a life member of the Otago Lawn Tennis Association 1 , and who has taken a keen interest in amateur theatricals in Dunedin, will make his first appearance on the Gisborne stage in “The Prude’s Progress” on March 3rd. Mr. Irvine has been cast for the character of Adam Cherry, a part for which he is said to have special qualifications, and will be a most valuable addition to the strong company. which will support Miss Rosemary Rees on Friday evening. A Press Association telegram from Napier states that in consequence of injuries sustained in a coach accident some weeks ago, Mr. G. P. Donnelly has been recommended by his doctor to take complete rest. He has therefore found it necessary to resign his position on the Racing Committee set up under the Act of last session.
