LONDON, Feb. 26. The Duke of Bedford, speaking at Bedford, denounced the Veto Bill' and said that the- parties in power were the Nationalists and Laborites, fundamentally differing from each other, yet controlling the Cabinet from without. He hoped that the Lords would introduce a clause preserving double-Cha-mber government intact. Otherwise lie preferred to see the- -creation of 500 puppet peers.
PARALYSING THE LORDS TO CARRY HOME RULE.
The Hon. W. H. Long, speaking at Bristol, urged the introduction _of relentless opposition to tli© Parliament Bill, in order to -secure as an alternative a reconstruction: of the House of Lords brought closer into conformity with the needs: of the time. The Government proposed, he said, to paralyse the House of Lords in order to arbitrarily carry" Home Rule. FOREST OF DEAN ELECTION. UNIONIST AMENDMENT TO VETO

Mr. Austen Chamberlain, in to-day’s veto debate, modes an amendment in favor of reforming the House of Lords, which, while maintaining its independence, also condemns conferring .on a single Chamber all effective legislative authority without a safeguard, also the introduction of grave changes without the consent of and contrary to the will of the people-.
