HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLE. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATIONS WELLINGTON, Feb. 27. The High Commissioner’s cable from London, dated February 25th, states: The mutton market is Quiet. There is a good demand for prime qualities, which are scarce. There is a dull sale for heavy carcases of mutton, which are in large supply. Canterbury 4d, North Island 3id light weight, North Island heavy weight. The lamb market is weak, and there is a dull sale for all lamb. Canterbury s|d, other than Canterbury 4-sd, Australian 4d, Argentine 4d. The beef market is dull. There is no change in prices. The butter market is quiet, and rather steadier. Best quality choicest New Zealand butter 106 s, Australian 102 s, Danish 1225. The cheese market is a shade weaker. White 56s 6d, colored, supplies increasing, 5Ss. The hemp market is dull, very little business doing. Large shipments are arriving. New Zealand, good fair, on spot, £l9 os; fair grade, £lB 15s; fair current Manila, £l9; forward shipment, New Zealand, good fair, £l9 10s; fair grade £lB ss; fair current Manila, £l9 10s. The output from Manila for the week was 23,000 bales. The cocksfoot seed market is quiet, but firm. Bright clean New Zealand seed, weighing 171bs per bushel, 74s per cwt. _ The wheat market is active. New Zealand long-berried wheat, on spot, ex granary, per quarter of 4961b5, 43s ; short-berried, 32s 6d. The oats market is steady, with an improved demand. New Zealand oats, short sparrowbills, on spot, ex granary, per quarter of 3S4lbs, 19s; Danish, quarter of 3201b5, 16s 9d. The wool market remains firm.
