A fatal accident occurred at Te Aroha. yesterday, a well-known resident of Maekaytown, named B. McGeehan, being killed. He was knocked down on the racecourse by a fonr-liorse brake, which pasesd over his body, killing him instantly.

A COMBINATION OF AILMENTS,

An elderly man named Samuel Crammer, who was admitted to the hospital about three weeks ago suffering from broken ribs, the result of an aeident by which lie was run over by a cart, died this morning. His death was due to heart trouble, accentuated by broken ribs. -

FATAL MACHINERY ACCIDENT. TAIHAPE, March 7. H. R. Middleton, foreman of the Powell process works, Rangataua, while in charge of a working “stumping devil” yesterday afternoon, owing to the snapping of a hook, received a blow on the side of the head, smashing it, and causing instantaneous death. The break occurred when the machine was at the maximum pressure. Deceased leaves a widow and. two children. FATAL MINE ACCIDENT.

WESTPORT, March 7. A trucker at the Westport coal Co.’s Mangatina mine, named Jas. Campbell, a single man, was injured last night, through a runaway tiuck of coal passing over him. He died at 11.30 this morning.

KILLED BY A FALL OF COAL. DUNEDIN, March 7. Particulars have just been received of the accident at Cooper’s mine, near Milton, on Saturday, when Alexander McLuokie, aged 39, was killed by a fall of coal. Deceased, who was a married man, and a mate named Broom, were filling coal into a box when a block of coal v about a ton in weight caught McLuclrie. Broom had a narrow escape. )\ lien the coal was removed deceased was found in a kneeling position, and death was evidently instantaneous. His skull was fractured, .his neck broken, and his back badly knocked, about. At the inquest a verdict of accidental death was returned.
