BOXING.
GISBORNE ASSOCIATION’S FIXTURE:
The Gisborne Boxing Association will hold a carnival on March 21st, and an excellent programme has been arranged. No trouble has been spared to make the fixture a success, and there is little doubt but that the committee will receive the support of the public. The amateur contests of six rounds for trophies valued £5 os will be of an interesting nature. The matches are: Fea-ther-weight, T. J. Parker v. S. Bardswell: light-weight, A. P. Kaipara v. V. Frinre; middle-weight, F. T. Seymour v. C. Clarke; heavy-weight, B. Lowe v. P. H. Sherratt. The profes-
sional challenge contest will be an interesting one, as the contestants have had a good deal of experience in the ring. L. Robinson, since gaining the verdict over Wcnand, claims the title of professional feather-weight champion of New Zealand, and R. Statham has on several occasions won the amateur championship in English contests, so in this match the public will be able to witness two champions, The contest is to be of 15 rounds for a purse of £3O.
