GISBORNE OIL COMPANY LTD.

OPERATIONS AT WAITANGI BORE. DR BELL EXPRESSES HIS ' APPROVAL. Mr AY. D. Lysnair, chairman of directors of the Gisborne Oil Co., Ltd., informed a “Times” representative last evening that lie had a. chat with Dr. Bell, late director of the Geological Survey Department, at Wellington, a few days ago, and explained the recent operations at Waitangi, and the directors’ proposal to sink a shallow well clown to the 655 ft level for the purpose of providing'fuel for the work, and at the- same time to properly test the supply at- that level. Dr Bell had stated (continued Mr. Lysnar) that lie quite approved of the suggestion, which he thought was a good one. He strongly emphasised the prudence of sticking to the locality of the main bore, and the intention of carrying the bore down to the depth the company originally proposed. He was satisfied that if they did their efforts would he fully justified. Dr. Bell also expressed himself as being very pleased with the class of formation that had recently been reached.
