SOUSA’S BAND.
WORLD TOUR INAUGURATED. The world’s tour of .Inl.n Mubp Sousa and his band, which was inaugur tied at the Queen's Hall, London, on January 2, and is to embrace South Africa. Australia. and New Zealand, will be a notable event in the musical annals of the colonies. For thirty years Sousa has been prominently before the public. Nearly every civilised country knows his splenclid band of musicians. Sousa has composed no fewer than 100 marches. His more pretentiotis works comprise ten operas, many suites and symphonic poems. He frequently writes both words and music to operas and songs. In another held he has also met with success, having written two novels. The band consists of sixty instrumentalists. Additional charm will be lent to each performance by the' inclusion of two American lady artists. Miss Virginia Root, a soprano vocalist, with a delightful voice and personality, and Miss Xieholino Zedeler, a talented violinist.
