THE NEW STATE POSITION.
STATE FARM SUPERINTENDENT. The decision of the Government to invite applications for the position of Superintendent of the _ Suite Farms came (says the ‘‘Dominion’ - ) as fresh news xo practically every farmer in the Dominion. ■ The Minister is absent in Auckland, and details are therefore not yet available. However, it is understood that the matter has been under consideration for a considerable time. In fact, this is thought to be the “State secret” which was nearly let loose upon a banquet party in one of the principal Manawatu towns early lasti month. During a speech by one of those who sat at the banquet tabic the Minister hastily interposed that what the speaker was about to spread broadcast was something which he desired should not be made public just then. And the information, whatever it was, was saved by a hair’sbreadth. At present the State farms are tinder the control of the Fields Division of the Agricultural Department, and it is said that the idea in placing them under is to pursue a system of specialisation. The superintendent, whose salary will be £‘Boo, it seems, is to be a scientific agriculturalist.
