ROWING.

THE GISBORNE CLUB. The races in the Cox Cup (double sculls) were continued on the Waimata course last evening, when Faram and Alley met Rutherford and De Lautour. Faram led from the start, but at the bridge Rutherford evened up, and a. close race ended in Faram winning -by a few feet. The next, race was Pollock and Malone v. Busby and O’Brien. Pollock had a slight advantage at the bridge, but at the Courthouse Busby overtook his opponent, gradually drew ahead, and won by threequarters of a length. To-night the races will be continued, when Baker and Gallop try conclusions with Daniell and Malone; Faram- and Alley with Busby and O’Brien. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee was held-in the Masonic Hotel last evening, when there were present: Messrs G. H. Puflett, I. J. Quigley, D. H. Faram, C. W. Muir, H. 'Cocker, and P. R. McConvilie. Daniell was granted permission to row Ben Malone in lieu of Bousfield. The following strokes were appointed to pick crews to row ,for J. F. Pettie’s medals, the choice to take place at the boathouse this evening: I. J. Quigley, H. M. Puflett, Baker,. R. H. Dobson, G. H. Puflett. J. Pollock was appointed by the selectors for the Licensed Victuallers’ Shield to fill Richards’ place in .the senior, crew. Arrangements for the annual “smoko” to .he held on April Bth, were reported to be well in hand. A very successful function is anticipated. REGATTA AT NAPIER. At the Hawkes Bay Rowing Association’s regotta on Saturday Aramoho won the Maiden •Sculls, Maiden ouble Sculls, Junior Sculls, and Maiden Poms., (ten stone): and Union (Napier) won the Maiden Fours, Junior Double Sculls, and Junior Pairs. The Star (Wellington) won the Senior and Junior Fours; Napier winning the Youths’ Fours and Maiden Pairs. . .
