THE MANGAPAPA SCHOOL
MONTHLY MEETING OF COMMITTEE. ADDITIONAL ACCOMMODATION REQUIRED. The usual monthly meeting of the Mangnpapa School Committee was held last night, when there wei'e present:— Messrs. E. Grundy (chairman), A. Coad, and E. S. Goldsmith. . x The headmaster reported that during the month the average attendance had been 232.6, representing 93 per cent, of the total roll number of 258. Miss Avery, who had left at the beginning of the month, had been replaced 'hv Miss Sheen. The report went on to urge the necessity for the provision of additional accommodation at the school, pointing out that in view of the average attendance, the minimum floor space required for each child, viz., 10ft, was not available. Mr. Cole concluded by expressing his thanks to the committee, and liis appreciation of the cordial relations which had always existed between them and the teaching staff.
The report was adopted, and it decided to make representations to the Education Board on the subject of increased accommodation.
It was decided* to request the Gisborne School Committee to relieve Mr. 0. R. Olsen, the recently appointed assistant, in order to allow him to take up liis duties on April Ist. In answer to a request from the session clerk of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, it was decided to grant the use of the schoolroom once a month for Sunday evening service.
