[Per pbess association. j WELLINGTON, March 16. _ John Aloysius Campbell, a teller in - the Bank of Australasia, was taken into custody to-day by Detectives Hammond and Kemp on three charges or the - theft of £360 Is 7d, the property of the bank, at Dunedin. Campbell was re- - centlv transferred from Dunedin to Otaki. and the informations charge him with the theft of £137 2s lOd and £144 13s 5d in November, 1909, and of £/6 5s 4d in January last'. A NEW FREEZING COMPANY. A meeting of those interested in the acquirement of tlie Banks Meat- Com- - pany’s premises at Ngahauranga, was held to-day, and resolutions were carried approving of the purchase, and authorising the formation of a company to erect frozen meat works, to be l ea y for operation at the beginning of next season. A provisional directorate was formed, and the prospectus will be issued at an early date. Mr. Jas. Mac- ' Tntosh was appointed chairman of the provisional directors, and Mr. W. rsicliolson secretary pro tern. ALLEGED DESERTION. TTMARTI, March 16. The captain of the s.s. Kumara today recognised on board the s.s. Egerton Grange a man wild, it is alleged, deserted from the Kumara at Sydney. The man was given into custody after an inquiry as to whether such an action would be legal.
