POVERTY BAY CLUB. The challenge race, which took place on Saturday evening between the Poverty Bay Rowing Club’s representatives —.J. Stewart (sir), G. Douglas (3),E. Whitfield (2), an-d C. Clark (bow) —and a challenge crew, E. Roche (str), J. O’Neil] (3), J. McConnell (2), and J. Lloyd (bow), resulted in aai easy victory for the former crew by about three and a half lengths. Stewart beat his opponent off the- mark, and had no trouble in keeping the opposing crow well in hand over the. whole course.
