Sister AYalshe. wno has for some time past been on rue sniff of tlie Gisborne Hospital, having occupied the position of Aiatron during tne absence of Nurse Godfrev. in the south, left Gisborne for \\clhng-on by last evening’s steamer. It is Sister AYalshe’s intention to spend a short holiday in AYellington before taking «p duties in the Empire City. Captain Aleikleham was among the arrivals by the Haurote yesterday morning, "and left- again by the boat last night for the south. The Alinisterial .party, comprising the Hon. R. McKenzie, Air AY. D. S. AlacDonald, Al.P._, and! Air AlcAlister, secretary to the Minister, returned to Gisborne by the s.s. A ictoria yesterday. . . The Inspector-General of Fire Brigades, Captain Hugo, was a passenger to Gisborne' yesterday by the Hauroto. ' During their brief stay in port yesterday the officers of the s.s. A ictoria took ‘advantage of the opportunity afforded them of presenting Air. C. F. Harper, formerly chief officer of the vessel, with a suitable token of the esteem in which he was held by them. Mr Harper, as is well known, is the newlv-appointed assistant harbourmaster and his .former shipmates wished him every success in his new position. Air L. Robertson, late second officer on the s.s. Squall. Iras left that vessel to take up a similar position on the s.s. Haupiri. ATv Richard Crowe has been appointed! to the position rendered vacant by the transfer of Air Robertson.
