At the Supreme Court Leo Barter was found 1 guilty on a charge of arson. He was admitted to probation for four months, and ordered to pay costs, £lO. In the case of Anders OJsen, Eketahuna, v. Thomas Gwynn Williams, .Canterbury, claim for specific performance regarding the purchase of a farm for £2768, the defence admitted the material alterations in the claim, and counsel moved for judgment on the pleading, which was granted'. An order was made for payment of the amount of claim, with costs. In the case in which F. C. Fox claimed £5Ol damages from Frederick O’Connor, the jury, after a retirement of over three hours, returned a verdict for the defendant. Michael McGovern claimed from one Hodd £SOO for alleged breach of specific performance of an agreement concerning the purchase of some land of which part was freehold and part leasehold. After hearing the evidence of the plaintiff, his Honour nonsuited the plaintiff with costs. AN IMPORTANT DECISION. WELLINGTON, March'29. The Chief Justice gave a somewhat important decision to-day on an originating summons in which four children disinherited by their mother’s will, asked that provision be made for them. The proceedings were connected with the estate of Elizabeth Green, worth £930, which had been left to a sister of the testator’s, plaintiffs claiming that they were in poor circumstances, and that no adequate provision had been made for them. The claims of two plaintiffs were dismissed, and they were ordered to pay £lO 10s to defray the cost of the executors had been put to. The third plaintiff his Honor ordered should, receive 5s per week, and the fourth plaintiff a sum of £SO. The two latter were suffering from a physical ailment.
