The Federal House of Commons is not expected to prorogue till the end of May. It is hoped that the Reciprocity Bill wilbhe passed previous to the prorogation, despite the Opposition campaign of obstruction. FAVORED BY WESTERN CANADIANS. A cablegram from Winnipeg, dated March 20, states that Western Canadians favour reciprocity, and quote official figures of the price of barley in Minneapolis and in Fort William, Ontario, to support their contention O'n March 18, No 3 grade barley sold in the United States city at 3s llld. while the price in Fort William was 2s 31d On last year’s barley crop in Western Canada the difference in price under the reciprocity agreement would mean £1,600,000 more for the Canadian . farmer. HOW TO KILL RECIPROCITY. A London cablegram of March 22, says : —Discussing Canadian uolitics the ‘•Globe” 'London) says that there is evidently a growing demand 1 for an election before! reciprocity is passed. The Government would be wise to grant the request, but can hardly await the result with any hope of success. Reciprocity might win a few seats, but the danger to Canadian nationalism is becoming more distinct every day. This only requires to he clearly seen to kill reciprocity for ever. An important, -by-election in Toronto is to be fought out on the question of reciprocity. The election will take place before the end of the presnt- session, as Mr A. B. Aylsworth, the Minister for Justice is retiring.
