THE COAL MINES BILL. SEVEN THOUSAND CANADIAN MINERS STRIKE../ 'UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRIGHT.! (Received April 2, 5.5 p.m.) OTTAWA, April 1. Miners to the number of 7000, disregarding the overtures of the Labour Department, struck in Eastern British Columbia and Alberta. PROTESTS FROM MINERS ORGANISATIONS. A cable message from London, dated March 23 says:—The .coal miners’ organisations are deluging the House of Commons with protests against some of the provisions in the Bill introduced by Mr Winston Churchill with the object of eliminating many of the dangers that attend the miners’ calling. Under one clause of the new measure miners are required to bathe daily on leaving the pits in which they are employed.
