DOMINION BOY SCOUTS.

LOCAL-TROOPS. On Saturday afternon last 27 Scouts went out to Haiti Beach to make a Maori oven. A large number of vegetables and a lot of meat having- been brought, a large oven was made. _ A hole in the ground -was half filled with hot stones on which green stuff and the food were placed in 'alternate layers. Then water was poured over the lot, to make the stones steam, and wet sacks were placed over all. The sacks were covered with earth two or three inches deep and the food was left to cook while the Scouts had a bathe. After a delightful swim the hoys found the food was cooked to a turn and then after tea they went homo in the dark. At the Scouts’ Rally last Sunday 3G S'couts met to hear Sergeant Forrest, lie gave a thrilling address on “A Contrast” telling well two stories of a boy who succeeded and of a boy who went under The large number was duo to the efforts of the Hustling Committee. Next Sunday Captain Copp of the Salvation Army will talk to the boys. ■ At the Scouts’ Bible Class on Sunday last Mr. Russell and seven Scouts had an interesting talk on Jeremiah. Mr. Russell (leader) would like to see more boys attend this class.
