FRIDAY, APRIL 7. (Before Mr. W. A. Barton, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Samuel Johnston, a second offender for drunkenness within six months, was fined 18s and costs 2s, in default four days’ imprisonment. REMANDED. Leonard Cosgrove, a young Maori, was charged with haying, on or about April 4th, at Pakowai, stolen the sum of £6, the property of Hori Peri. On the application of the police he was remanded till Friday next. Bail was allowed accused in £SO and two sureties of £25 each. LEAVING A VEHICLE UNATTENDED. Maka Te Atu was fined 20s and costs for leaving a vehicle unattended in a public place. BREACH OF A PROHIBITION ORDER. Wm. Harrison, a prohibited person, was fined 40s and costs for procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order issued against him. AN UNUSUAL OFFENCE. Jas. Higgs was charged with, on or about March 13th, he threw a dead horse into the Waikohu stream at Rakauroa. He was further charged with neglecting to bury the carcase. Accused, who w r as represented by Mr L. T. Burnard, pleaded guilty. On the first charge he was fined 10s and £1 lla costs, and in the second case, a fine of Is and 7s costs was imposed.
