MEAT AND DAIRY INDUSTRIES.
ARGENTINE MOVEMENTS. Decrees have been issued by the Argentine Government for adding two new divisions to the Ministry of Agriculture. One is an “Office of Meats.” The decree urges that it is the duty of the State to amplify the capacity of the markets now supplied with Argentine live stock and meat, and to gain others by adapting production to the tastes and customs of each country. The great obstacle, it is added, is the system of veterinary control for sanitary purposes in Europe, and veterinarians are to be sent to Europe to study and report on this and other subjects. The other new division is the “Office of Milk Industry and Refrigeration,” the objects of which, described at great- length, are to develop the dairy industry and to improve the refrigerating of meat, while extending it to milk in establishments and in transport.
