THE SHORTAGE OF LABOUR IN SYDNEY. A. LABOR MINISTER’S STATEMENT (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRIGHT.! SYDNEY, April 12. Air. Holman states that the alleged shortage of labor applies only to some trades. He admitted 1 that there was a shortage in building and manufacturing industries. The Government was prepared to appoint a commission to ascertain the actual facts and how they could be met by industrial and educational reform. For financial reasons the advance of the immigration policy would be left to the Federal Government. Air. Fisher would discuss the subject of immigration while in England.
A SINGULAR UNION. CITING THE PEOPLE AS EAIPLOYERS. Hairdressers not employing assistants have decided to form a union and to apply to the Wages Board, citing the public as employers.
