NOTES AND COMMENTS. (By “Argus.”) Racing euthusiasts will he well catered for on Monday and Tuesday next, for no fewer than ten meetings will be held in the Dominion. The chief fixtures are at Canterbury. Auckland, and Feilding, at all of which Gisborneownod horses will participate. Gold Lace and Iranui claim engagements in the Canterbury Easter and Autuimn Handicaps respectively, where they will measure strides with some of the Canterbury and Dunedin horses. Sunburnt, owned by Messrs W. G. and G. L. Stead, on his running in the Alanawatu Stakes,-is sure to be handy in the Easter, while Madam Madcap and Penates, who won the event last year, are a pair that will be hard to beat. In the Autumn, Iranui will have to t meet Los Angelos, who easily accounted for the Dunedin: Cup, and is reported to be in great fettle. Of course the terms are 81bs better. Vice-Admir-al has to prove that he can stay, but southern writers give him a chance. Rose Noble should run well , while Prim will give a, good account of herself. At Feilding, Birkline and Ruaparaha have been, entered. The former is expected to run prominently ini his engagements. The entrants for the Tradesmen's Handicap at Auckland include.-Paisano 7.11 and Fort William 9.0. The latter is set a prettv fair task, but. on his running in the Danmevirke and Napier Cups he will give a good account of himself.
The Birkenhead gelding Biridine has been accepted for in the Waiata Hack Handicap at Feilding. In the Telegraph Handicap at Awapuni he ran badly, although heavily supported, but he is expected to make a much better showing next Monday, as the bay is very well. Miss “Winsome is showing 1 something like her spring form on the Ellerslie tracks, and promises to strip m good condition for the Great Northern Champagne Stakes. The Higihden representative Boanerges, judging from his running at Awapuni, should give a good account of himself in the A.R.C. Easter Handicap . . The Easter Handicap representative Fort. William is doing well at Ellerslie, and in a gallop with Monoplane and Gorcmahdel the other day defeated the pair fairly easily. Gold Lace and Iranui, who are among the best fancied in the O. J.C. Great Easter Handicap, were shipped from Wellington during the week. If the Gold Reef mare can repeat the form she showed in the Stewards’ and Members’ Handicap at the C.J.C. spring meeting., she will certainly have to be reckoned with.
