Seldom, if ever, in the history of this district has so much interest been manifested as is the case in regard to the coming elections for both Borough Council and Harbor Board, and a complete list of candidates for eaph body is published in this is§ue. Added interest is caused by .'the fact that, contrary to earlier expectations, the Mayoralty is to be contested, Mr. John Sheridan having been nominated in opposition to the present Mayor (Mr W. D. Lysnar). BOROUGH COUNCIL. There are thirteen nominations for seats on the Borough Council, and nine members are to be elected. The following is the list of candidates: — MAYORALTY. V. PALMER, nominated by Messrs. W. C. Ensor and R. B. Dymock. PAYERS OF DUES REPRESENTATIVE. For the one seat on the Board to represent the payers of shipping dues two nominations have been received, as follows: — A. S. WACHSMANN, nominated by Messrs. J. B. Kells and H. Oldfield. ... Frank LOWNDES, nominated by Captain Skinner, Messrs. G. K. Pasley, F. S. Malcoim, G. K. Miller, and R. Robertson. It must he understood by the electors that any persons who vote for the member to represent the 0 dues (unless they do so in a fiducial} capacity) will not be eligible to vote for .the Borough or County representatives. , . _ The elections are to take place on Wednesday next, between the hours of 9 a m and 7 D.m., and from present indications the polling promises to be exceptionally heavy.
