ENTERTAINMENTS.

KINKING

Skating was continued with zest last night at the Garrison Hall by a laige gathering of enthusiasts, there being a specially large m*oportion of ladies P r sent. 'A feature of last night’s skatinc was the fine music played by the Rink Band, and the popular airs met with much favor by those present, and added greatly to the pleasure of the dancing. The usual sessions will be held this morning and afternoon. Tonight the big session will be held, at which ALadarne Tussande will appear in the long-talked-of harem skirt.

PATHE PICTURES. The Pathe Pictures were exceedingly well patronised ■ last evening, when a fine new series of pictures was screened. Some beautifully acted dramatic subjects form the body of ' the programme, and of these one entitled “Herodias” takes precedence. As ’ts title suggests, it is a Biblical subject and is mounted in a most elaborate fashion. Special interest is centred, on it on account of fbe prominence it givesto the legend of Salome, which has been the subject of so much interest on account of the controversy which has raged over the famous passion dance of that name. The picture is undoubtedly a brilliant production and deserves to be met with a full measure of success. “The Gambler’s Charm” is a splendid storv involving some very fine acting, besides being very prettily put together. The well-known Pyrenees mountains are shown to great advantage in a- picture of that title, while “The Timber Industry” demonstrates the triumph of machinery in this branch of trade. A charming light comedy is depicted in “Mrs Barrington’s ’Party,” and’ was greeted with much ■ applasue. “Lea and Tontolini in the Clouds” is also a mirth-provoking comic. Other films included ill the series are those entitled “The Arcadian Maid,” “'Highland Gatherings,” “The " ''H to Labour,” and “The Biter Bit.” . " ;
