[PEE PEESS ASSOCIATION.J WAIROA, April 20. Mr. J- Corkill, the retiring flavor, was re-elected unopposed. There were nine nominations to the Council. One has ’since retired. There will be no electloH' HASTINGS. April 20. Messrs. J. Garnett. W. Lane, and T. J. Thomoson have been nominated for the Mayoralty. There are fifteen candidates for nine seats on the Council. Messrs. G. S. Clapham, E. Lane, J. A. Miller, and David'Wliyte have been nominated for election as Hastings representative on the Harbor Board. MASTERTON, April 20. Mr. J. M. Coradine has been re-elect-ed Mayor unopposed. There were 12 nominations for nine seats on the Borough Council. , _ WANGANUI, April 20. Mr. C. E. Mackay has been re-elected Mayor of Wanganui for the sixth successive term. There are sixteen nominations for nine Councillors, including four Labor representatives. There are eight nominations for six town seats on the Harbor Board. WELLINGTON, April 20. __ There are 35 nominations for the 15 vacancies on the Wellington City Council
CHRISTCHURCH, April 20
Municipal politics are now engaging general attention, and generally the campaign is in full swing. There are three candidates for the Christchurch Mayoralty, viz., Mr. C. Allison, Mr. T. E. Taylor, and Dr. H. T. J. Thacker. There'are 32 candidates for the seats on the City Council. The latest move lias been the formation of a Citizens’ Municipal Association. Apparently its object is to meet the agitation of the Labor Representation Committee. The new Association has come very late into the field, and Labor organisations have been busy for many weeks. Mr. J. Miller has been elected Mayor of Lyttelton, Mr. McGregor Wright for Woolston. Mr. H. J. Marriner for Sumner. Mr. R. Wylie for Kaiapoi, and Mr E. R. Good for Rangiora. TTMARU, April 20. Mr. J. Craigie, M.P., Mayor for the last nine years, and Councillor J. Beck, a retired farmer, are candidates for the Mayoralty. For 12 seats on the Borough Council there are 25 nominations, and three present councillors stand out. For two seats for the Harbor Board there are four candidates. For Waimate Mr. Norton Francis was re-elected Mayor unopposed. There are 16 candidates for nine seats on the Council.
For Tenuika Mr. J. T. M. Hayharst, a former Mayor, opposes Mr. T. Buxton, M.P., the present Mayor.
At Timaru and Waimate the Labor party make a bid for a share of representation, six candidates in each case accepting the Labor ticket. DUNEDIN, April 20.
Crs. Bennett and Wilson have been nominated for the city Mayoralty. For Mornington Mr. Bridger (retiring Mayor) and Mr. Dickson were nominated. For St. Kilda, Messrs. Allen and Ewing ; for Green Island, Messrs. Geddes and Lindsay; and for Mosgiel, Mr. Inglis (retiring Mayor) and Mr. Quelch were nominated.
Mr. Miller was re-elected Mayor of West Harbor, and Mr. Butterfield Mayor of Maori Hill.
