WELCOAIE RAIN IN CANTERBURY. [PER PREBS ASSOCIATIONS CHRISTCHURCH, April 21. Heavy and welcome rain fell last night and continued to-day. It will do a vast amount of good, especially in the country districts. A -STREET-PREACHING CASE. Adjutant Tliurtett-le, of the Salvation Army, was called upon at the Magistrate’s Court to-day to answer three charges of breaches of the bylaw prohibiting meetings -being held in Cathedral Square except on a certain part thereof. He did not appear, but on his counsel’s application, the cases were adjourned for a week. WEATHER IN SOUTH CANTERBURY. TIMARU, April 21. Welcome- rain lias fallen, and has not yet ceased. THE IRISH DELEGATES. Meetings have* been- held in several centres to prepare a reception and meetings for the Irish envoys. PREPARING FOR THE POLL. For the triple polls at Tiinaru on Wednesday, alt the ballot boxes in town* have been obtained, and thirty lia.ye been borrowed -from the neighboring districts.
