HAWKE’S BAY LAND BOARD.
CONCESSION TO LANDLESS APPLICANTS. [.SPECIAL TO TIMES.] NAPIER, April 21. At the meeting of the Land Board to-day the Commissioner, Air Pollen, at Air Lane’s request, moved: “That all applicants for Crown lands who are landless and qualified by law to ballot for land, be passed for the ballot without any other test than a declaration.” The Commissioner explained that they had had two very big ballots lately, and, as far as the examination went, it was very little good, for all yhc information wanted was contained in the sworn declaration put in. It put applicants to a lot of expense to attend ,though in the case of land for settlement it was necessary. Air Lane seconded the motion, contending that everybody should have the equal right of farming. Alessrs Wright and Akroyd said that they had no intention of opposing the motion, which was carried. The Board adjourned, to meet at Gisborne on Alondav.
