(Received April 23, 5.5 p.m.) PARIS, April 22. There is growing excitement at the delay in the rescue of the. French colony at Fez. Captain Moreau, is forming. a mehalla at Alcazar to relieve .Major Bremond’s S'herarda troops, but Raisuli refuses to allot the Kaicl transports to carry supplies to the French. The Government announces that vigorous measures will be taken to revictual Major Bremond. RELIEF FORCE BEING ORGANISED. The Government’s existence will be endangered unless vigorous action is taken to save the French officers in Morocco, whose position is likened to that of Gordon at Khartoum. A relief force of 4000 natives under French officers is at present' forming. It will only reach Fez on May 3rd if unopposed. There are various reports that Fez has fallen, and that the garrison has •been massacred. PRESS URGES DECISIVE MEASURES. The newspapers urge decisive meas'Ures, unheeding the carpings of' the German and Spanish press. “Le Temps” declares: “Frenchmen are in danger of death through Government ineptitude. They must be saved, and the Powers told outright what we mean to • do.” There are dozen 1 of Bntisliers in Fez, including Mr James McLeod and his family. Dr. Verdon and his wife and ‘two children, and two English lady missionaries. There are also two American missionaries, 45 Frenchmen and five Germans.
