POVERTY BAY HOCKEY ASSOCIA-

TION.

ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of the Poverty Bay Hockey Association was held in the Royal Hotel last evening. Mr. A. E. Rees presided, and there were some twenty (members present. The report and balance-sheet were adopted.. The latter showed that the Association had a credit balance of £23. The following officers were elected: — President Mr. W. Pettie; vice-presi-dents Messrs E'. H. Pavitt, T. E. Toneycliffe, G. K. Pasley. J. J. Martin, D. J. Barrv, G. MacMillan:. J. Johnstone. F. Harris, G. B. Oman, and T. Bunting; secretary and treasurer. Mi. 0. R. Olsen; auditor, Mr. J. Doyle. It was stated that an effort is to be made to inaugurate a Saturday competition in Gisborne, and a committee was set up to inquire into the matter of obtaining suitable grounds. The Association, it was stated, will further endeavor to forward the interests of lady hockey players, and an effort will be made to place a ground at their disposal. It is also hoped that some form of trophy will be forthcoming for competition between ladies’ teams. It was decided to form a Referees Association, asking each olub to nominate three players capable of controlling a game. Mr. 0. R. Olsen was appointed to examine tile candidates, so. that all: games will be controlled in a satisfactory manner. It was resolved, in addition to tins, that in future all games should have two referees, the object being to raise the standard of the game locally’.. The Associatioiii decided that in the case of a club playing unfinancial members after June- Ist. it would be advisable to disqualify the club as a whole. The senior competition 1 will be opened at the Domain on May 4, and the first meeting of delegates will be held at the Royal Hotel on Tuesday. 2nd May. To-morrow afternoon, at 2 p.m.. Civil Service will meet Y.M.C.A., and at 3 p.m. City meet West End. TO-MORROW’S 1 MATCHES. The 1 team to represent West End Club in practice on Wednesday next will be picked from the following: Stone Coleman, Redgrave, Atkinson, Pollock, Cramp, Tocker, Olsen, McLiskie. Clark, Benjamin, Sims, Rice, Lucas and McLean. The following will represent City m a match with West End Hockey Qub at the Domain to-morrow afternoon at 3 p.m: Robinson, Fox,. Davy (3), Rees, Smale, McConville, Cramp, Lawrence, M. Doyle, Hyde.
