A RESTRICTED GOODS SERVICE.

[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION-! ' DUNEDIN, April 25. A restricted railway service for the economical working of the goods traffic throughout New Zealand will he introduced on May 6th. Instead of goods being forwarded to smaller stations every day, they will have a service two or tliree times a week, according to quantity sent. There are 97 stations served from Dunedin to which the restricted service will apply. A similar system has been in operation in several of the Australian States for several years, and has been found to work satisfactorily, and at the same time effecting a very considerable saving in the cost of working the railways.
