The leader of a political party can never tell where the next question is coming from. The “Christchurch Press ’ records that the cahman who drove Mr. Massey to the railway station last, week took the opportunity of presenting a humble but heartfelt petition: —“Mr. Massey, I hope, sir, that you’ll do what you can for us by taking the tax off feed -and putting it on motors. Things are not good for us at all now, and feed’s going up.” Mr. Massey expressed his sympathy, made a few inquiries as to the price of fodder, explain- ' ed that he had, when the matter was before the House, voted in favor of raising the duty on. motor cars, and stated that lie certainly would bear in mind the remarks c f the cabman.
