MEETING AT NAPIER. [SPECIAL TO TIMES.] NAPIER, April 27. The monthly meeting of the Education Board was held to-day. The chairman’s statement included the 1 following : —The resignation of Mr Blackford, sole teacher, Motu, Iliad' been received. Monday, 26th May, had been appointed as the date of the school committee elections not held this .week. Mr Smith, who sustained serious injuries by a fall from his horse while on. inspection duty in the Poverty Bay district, hoiies to resume work this week. The following recommendations of the Technical Committee were adopted': The Gisborne High School to be thanked for handing over the technical class rooms. The Qiea.dma.ster, Gisborne,. to report on tlie destruction of technical apparatus. Tlie coach fares of teachers attending Saturday classes to be paid if they make 80 per cerit. attendances, and the holders of railway tickets to attend both classes. Recommendations by the Finance Committee were adopted .as follows: The matter <of allowance to school committees to- he held over till next meeting. Tlie election of a new school at Ngatapa to be proceeded (with. Tlie foreman’s -report was dealt with as under: —Makauri, repairs to .he effected to drainage and an application to be made to the department for a grant for washhouse. Waerenga-a-hika. T!he department to be applied to for a washhouse, a new tank to .be supplied and minor repairs effected. Mangapapaj.: Plans for additions to 'be forwarded to the department. Correspondence was dealt with as follows : Tologa Bay: A grant of Yd per head all the year round for the conveyance of children to the school approved. Patutahi: A “tag” on the balancesheet was pronounced to be correctThe committee has no power to arse the Board’s funds to pay tlie secretary’s salary. ' .. , Gisborne; Subsidy for a new bell declined. .. , , Makaraka: A more specified explanation waa requested to be given regarding the closing ■of tlie school on tv Patrick’s Day.
