Pan-German Congress tin speakers expressed alarm at the increase of Poles in the Eastern 1 and Western provinces, and adjured the Government to put- into effect the Extirpation Bill passed three years ago. Professor Lexier, of Jena, at the German Surgeon’s Congress, detailed the construction of an entirely new oesophagus (the opening of the stomach) out of intestines, the outer skin being grafted. The organ had been destroyed by sulphuric acid which a woman had taken when attempting suicide. Idle burns reached from the pharynx to the stomach. The woman is now taking solids and fluids.
