THE COMING ELECTIONS.
DR PO'MARE A CANDIDATE. LPER PRESS ASSOCIATION J TE KUITI, May 5. Dr Pomare, of the Native Health Department, is resigning liis position in six weeks to contest the Western Maori seat. His chief objects are are. defeating of To Maliuta, and helping the natives to rise to a higher standard their hygienic level. Pepene Eketone, defeated at last election, is also standing. MR. BUCHANAN, M.P., AT CARTERTON. MASTERTON, May 5.
Mr. W. C. Buchanan, M.P.. addressed a meeting of electors at Carterton to-night. He traversed the legislation of last session, and strongly criticised the financial operations of the Government. He was accorded a hearty vote of thanks and confidence at the conclusion of tlie meeting.
