BANKS AND LAW CLERKS’
CLUB
\ meeting of bank and lav clerks was held in’ the Masonic Club rooms last evening for the purpose of forming a Saturday hockey • club. It was decided to form a- club, to be known as the Gisborne Bank and Law Clerks Hockey Club. The election of officers was held over till Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. In the meantime it was decided to apply for affiliation at the ’Association meeting next Tuesday evening. Keen interest was evinced by those present and it was hoped.to place a strong team in the field. Mr L. RBright was elected. secretary. pro tern., and members wishing to join are requested t-o communicate with him. MERCANTILE CLUB FORMED. A meeting was held last evening at the Masonic Hotel to form a Saturday ‘hockey club- amongst the employees of the mercantile firms. There was a good attendance, and it was decided that a club be formed, called the Gisborne Mercantile Hockey Club. About 95 members were registered and the election of officers resulted as follows : —President, Mr G. K. Pasley; vicepresidents ;■-Messrs J. B. Kells, J. W. Bright, A. F. Kennedy, W. A. O’Meara Wm. Anderson, W. F. Cederwall-i It. W. Kyme, A. W. Murray, John Sheridan, A. S. Wach-smann, J. D. Macmillan. A. T. J. W. F. Preston, C. Hellier Evans. Wm. Pettie-and C. J. Bennett. The election of a captain, and vice-' captain was deferred until Monday evening, when a meeting will be held at 7.30’ in the Masonic Hotel. The colours of the chib are to be black and white stripes. The ground will, be in Childers road, and everything points to tlie. club being a success. All interested’ are invited to become members, as it is desired to make the club as strong as possible.
