Mr and Mrs F.Barker are back from their visit South. Nurse Chappell who was the guest of Mrs William Cooper, returned to l Auckland on Wdnesday. Miss Iris Maclean has returned from her visit South. Dr and Mrs Scott returned from Wellington this morning. Mrs Pittar is back from a visit to Auckland. Miss L. Coleman went up to Auckland to be present at the marriage of Mr T. Adams to Miss Elsie Coleman, her cousin. Mrs and Mrs Welsford Carter are back from their honeymoon trip to Auckland. The marriage of Miss N. Beere to Mr Aldridge takes place at Holy Trinity on Wednesday next. The first dance assembly of the season will take place about the 26th of this month. A number of girleens are home for tlieir term) vacation, and some are Misses /tlray (2) Williams (2), Wallis, Rees, Hodge, Kennedy and Tombleson (2). Miss Lanauze, of Napier, is visiting Gisborne. Mrs Traill is visiting her daughter-in-law, Mrs F. Traill, of Stout street. Mrs Codrington, who has been staying with Mrs Dawson-Thomas for some months, returned to Sydney last week. Mr and Mrs O’Meara are back from their recent trip. The weather has been very pleasant for golf this week, and though the grass is very long a number of players have been out, among others I noticed Mesdames King, Traill, Morgan, Barlow, R. AVillock, Stephenson, O’Meara, Misses I. Maclean, Black (3), Davies (2), King, Murray. Bright, and Nolan. Mrs Fisher, Timaru, is the guest of her mother, Mrs Goffe, Ormond road. The engagement is announced of Miss Nanny Heath, of Napier, to Mr R. N. Hogg (Edinburgh). Miss Heath is on an extended visit to London just noAv. The Skating Rink is being very well patronised now that the Aveather is colder. Last Saturday night was exceptionally big, no less than three hundred skaters being on the floor at one time. ' Apropos of skating came the news of a love match from London which a Cupid on skates seems to haA r e arranged; it is that of Lord George Chol--j mondeley and Mrs. Clara Stirling. A Both the lady and her fiancee have been assiduous in their attendance and much seen in each'others company at the Olympia Rink. They are perfect skaters and both extremely handsome.
