HOCKEY.

POVERTY BAY .HOOKEY ASSOCIATION. The weekly meeting of the Poverty Bay Association was held in l the Royal Hotel last evening. Mr. A. E. Ree* in the chair. The referees appointed for to-mor-row’s matches were: City V. Y.M.C.A., Messrs M. Rice and S. Roderick; Civil Service V. West. End,. Messrs A. E. Rees and E. Kibhlewliite. The New. Zealand Hockey Association, wrote informing the local Association that the president of the N. Z. Association had donated a very fine cup to be competed for between all the smaller associations. It was decided to try and obtain the nse of a ground on the Park Racecourse for the Saturday matches. As the 'Golf Club had the use of the grounds known as Greig’s paddock, and it was thought the two clubs might clash. Saturday fixtures are to commence on Saturday week. All nominations with names of players and uniform colors must be in the hands of tlie, Association secretary by Tuesday next, when the drawings will take place. It was announced that the use of the High School grounds had been granted by the Board of Governors for the Ladies’ matches. The drawing of the fixtures will take place next Tuesday night also. Both the Ladies’ and Mens’ matches will comene© next Saturday week. REFEREES’ ASSOCIATION. A meeting was also held to form a Referees’ Association. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. E. H. Pavit; Vice-Presidents, Messrs P. Bushiiell and W. Ogilvie; Hon. Sec., and Treasurer, A. E. Rees. This Association will meet ...every Tuesday night to consider the rulings and to appoint referees for the different games. It is hoped that by so doing better and more uniform rulings will he forthcoming, as each member will be examined and have to pass as capable before he will be allowed to take charge of a game. TO-MORROW’Si MATCHES. To-morrow's matches are: Y.M.C.A. V. City at 2.15 p.m.; West End V. Civil Service 3.30 p.m. The following will represent Y.M. C. V. City at 2.15 p.m. (sharp): D. Ivibblewhite, Pine, Miller, Grant, J. Garrett, Oxenham. E. A. Jones, Clark, Baker,- Bushnell, Au'ld and Greene. Emergency: Tait. The following team will represent the City Hockey Club' in a match with Y.M.C.A. on the Domain at 2.10 p.m. to-morrow: L. Davey, H. Davey, Fox, McConville, H. Davey. .F. Cramp, McLean, B. Davey, A. Rees, J. Davey, Doolan; emergency, Hine.
