HIGH SCHOOL BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING
The Gisborne High School Board met in the office of Messrs Nolan and Sheet, yesterday afternoon, Mr. J. W. Nolan (chairman) presided, and other members present were as follows: —Messrs E. H. Mann, J. W. Bright, A. F. Matthews, and Mr. W. Morgan, secretary. A large amount of correspondence was react and recived and the Headmaster, Mr. A. R. Gatland', reported that the attendance at. uie school was good and that excellent work was be mg done there. Mr. Morgan, ’reporting on the formation of wool-classes, said that there were 91 pupils enrolled to date, ana that classes were still be to formed at \Vaingake, Waimata and Waerenga-a-liika.
It was unanimously agreed to grant Mr. Morgan a bonus in recompense for the time he had spent in connection with the formation of these classes. The use of the High ground for ladies hockey matches on Saturday afternoons was granted to the Poverty Bay Hockey Association. After some slight discussion concerning the tenders for the additions to the boarding bouse, the matter of acceptance was left in thei hands of the chairman.
The secretary was instructed to write to the Cook and Waikoliu County Councils and also to the Agricultural and Pastoral Association, applying for donations towards the cost of the wool classes.
A number of accounts totalling £l7B 17s 7d were passed for -payment. Messrs Matthews and Kirk were appointed the visiting committee for the month.
