TENNIS.

MEETING OF NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. [PEE PEESS ASSOCIATION.J WELLINGTON, May 10. The New Zealand Lawn. Tennis Association held a special meeting to-night to consider the proposals for alteration in the method of governing the game. There was a fair attendance. Mr. C. T. Aschmam, the Canterbury Association’s special delegate, moved “That the affairs of this Association shall be managed by a Council, to consist of one delegate from each affiliated Association." He said that the present system was antiquated, for a great part of the work was done between the quarterly meetings, of which members heard nothing. A great mass of the local work should 1 be done by the local Association, leaving the national, or general, affairs to the central body. Mr. B. Iveesing (Auckland) seconded the motion.

Professor Hunter said that a great danger was that the proposal would introduce the Club element. Air. G. L. Peacocke said he was heartily sick of changing the constitution. Complete changes were made in 1908 on Canterbury’s proposition._ Air. T. A. Hurley said the present management committee was composed of the best men at the head of affairs. It would! be better to get them in power than allow it to be placed ip the hands of delegates at a, distance. Air. Gray said that Otago had instructed him to (support thejproposal. The motion was lost bv 27 to 15.

A'similar fate happened to Mr. Aschman’s motion than" affiliated Associations should have one vote for the firt 300 members and an additional vote for every additional 300 members. A motion by Air. Aschman altering the rates of subscription was also- niegar-t-ived. It was announced that Air. A. H. Pulman (Wellington) has been selected to the management committee in place of Mr. Dart (resigned).
